![]() ![]() Bell patented the telephone a couple years later, and that's how Snapchat started. 1672: Robert Hooke created the first acoustic telephone in 1672. Johann Philipp Reis, a German schoolteacher and physicist, announced his invention of the telephone in a lecture before the Physical Society of Frankfurt. He published 'Ueber Telephonie durch den galvanischen Strom' in Jahres-Bericht des physikalischen Vereins zu Frankfurt am Main fur des Rechungshahr 1860-1861 (1861). The patent caveat lasted a year before it had to be renewed, and a door opened up for Bell when Meucci was unable to renew it in 1874. Meucci had applied for what was called a patent caveat, an outdated licensing application that let an inventor mark a place for an invention in hopes of getting everything together to file for a full-on patent in the future. The telephone was first used in the United States from New Haven to Boston but quickly spread all over America and then into other countries after that. ![]() As a famous inventor of that time, he invented a device to make talking to someone who’s far away as easy as talking next door. According to The Guardian, this action proved to some that Bell outright stole Meucci's invention and passed it off as his own without having done any of the tinkering or chin scratching himself. Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone and patented it In 1876. In 1875, Bell and his partner Thomas Watson managed to create the first receiver that could turn electricity into sound. Congress passed a resolution in 2002 recognizing the life and achievements of Antonio Meucci, an Italian-born inventor whose "teletrofono" most likely did give Bell an idea or two. Who invented the telephone Alexander Graham Bell received the patent for the telephone on March 7, 1876. At least that's what some historians and the Italian-American community said was the truth after the U.S. Both Antonio Meucci and Elisha Gray should be credited with successfully inventing telephones in the United States before Alexander Graham Bell invented it in. ![]()
